Carolyn Mary Westcott, affectionately known as Carol to her friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, at the age of 79 in Middleborough, Massachusetts, after a courageous battle with dementia. Born on January 3, 1946, in Newton, Massachusetts, Carol was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. Carol was the cherished daughter of the late Mary and Carlos DelBene and sister to Margaret Himebaugh.
Her journey through life was one of commitment and joy, particularly highlighted by her loving marriage of 57 years to her devoted husband, David Westcott. Together, they raised a family that became her pride and joy. Carol was a nurturing mother to her son Mark Westcott and daughter Julie Ramieri, Carol will also be remembered lovingly by her son-in-law, James Ramieri, who would always sing her Elvis songs and make her smile. She found immense happiness in the lives of her grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Isabella, James, William, Danielle, Alex, Connor and Logan, as well as her great-grandchild, Vincent.
Carol was also a beloved sister-in-law to Gwendolyn and Stephen Sayian, and a respected sister-in-law to Richard Westcott as well as a cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews, Adrienne and Grant Sayian and Mercedes and Chloe and Benjamin Westcott. She will be remembered with love by her cousins, Donna Meaney and Susan Turner. Carol's spirit, her love for her family, and her passion for life will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her close-knit family was a testament to the love and kindness she spread throughout her life. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy, and she will be remembered for her loving, friendly, and kind demeanor that made everyone around her feel special.
A bright and determined woman, Carol pursued her education with dedication, earning a business degree from Burdett College. Her professional life included a tenure as a bank teller in Sharon before she embarked on a new adventure, operating a business with her beloved husband for over 30 years. In her retirement, she worked on Otis Air Force Base in a daycare for children of the enlisted military personnel of the Coast Guard.
Carol's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her vibrant and sociable personality. She loved planning parties and gatherings, making every event special with her excellent cooking and innate talent for entertaining and her generous hospitality. Carol's zest for life was evident in her hobbies as well. She loved lifting weights to stay healthy and also making crafts to brighten her home. She was an enthusiastic line dancer and served as the president of her bowling league, bringing her characteristic warmth to everything she did.
Those who knew Carol will remember her for her loving nature, friendly demeanor, and kind spirit. She had the remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed and cherished, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of being part of her life.
Carol's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the warm memories she created with everyone she met. She lived her life with grace and generosity, and her influence will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and comfort those who loved her in the days to come.
Carol's life will be celebrated in a private ceremony, where her family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful life she led. Her journey may have come to a close, but the stories and love she leaves behind will endure forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral service at the funeral home Friday February 28th at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
