Born in the vibrant city of Cartago, Colombia, Bernardo's journey was one of passion, dedication, and an enduring love for his roots and family.
Embracing his Colombian heritage, Bernardo carried the warmth of his homeland throughout his life. His academic achievements were notable, as he successfully completed his high school education in Colombia before advancing his academic pursuits with a Bachelor's degree in Business and an MBA from a prestigious university in his native country.
Bernardo's professional life was a testament to his commitment and expertise in fostering connections and understanding among people. His long-standing career in Public Relations at International Paper Company was marked by his ability to engage and inspire those around him until his well-deserved retirement.
Bernardo's life in Canton for the last two decades was filled with the simple pleasures that he cherished deeply. While dancing gave rhythm to his life's melody, his love for family drew everyone together in many hosted celebrations. A passion for reading allowed him to traverse worlds beyond his own, and traveling opened new horizons and friendships, enriching his experiences and worldview.
Above all, Bernardo Sanchez was a family man. He was the beloved husband of Nora I. (Rodriguez), whose partnership and love formed the cornerstone of their shared life. As a devoted father, his legacy lives on through his children: Pilar Sanchez-Papadopoulos and her husband Bill of Canton, Patricia Sanchez of Mexico City, Adriana Sanchez-Bachiller and her husband Carlos of Easton, and Claudia Sanchez-Webster and her husband Timothy of Walpole. Each of his children carries a piece of Bernardo's heart and teachings.
Though he now joins his late siblings Lucy Sanchez, Manuel Antonio Sanchez, Consuelo Sanchez, and Maria Del Rosario Sanchez, his memory will continue to be a beacon of love and guidance for his family. Bernardo's life was further blessed with the joy of his six grandchildren, who will carry forward the stories, laughter, and lessons of their cherished grandfather.

Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Church, Canton Thursday morning January 9th at 11:00 am. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday morning prior to the mass from 9:00 to 10:30. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Good Shepherd Community Care 160 Wells Ave Newton, MA 02459.
