Barbara Dolan Obituary

With a heavy heart yet a celebration of a life vibrantly lived, we announce the passing of Barbara Marie Dolan, who left us on October 29, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on November 30, 1966, in Middleton, Rhode Island, Barbara's life was a testament to her joyous spirit and loving nature. Her final days were spent in Stoughton, Massachusetts, surrounded by the love of her family and the comforting presence of her cherished pets.

Barbara was the beloved partner of Michael D. Noddell of Stoughton, with whom she shared many of life's adventures, including their memorable first encounter on a hiking trail that blossomed into a loving and supportive relationship. She was the devoted daughter of John and Marijke "Mickey" Dolan, who instilled in her the values of kindness and compassion that she carried throughout her life. She has maintained a close relationship with her former husband, Bob, throughout the years.

She lovingly raised her daughter Caitlin Fang, with Caitlin’s father, Dr. Leslie Fang. She had great pride and affection for her granddaughter, Marijke, who was named in a touching tribute to her own mother, and her son-in-law. Tommy Blair. Her fur family, including her loyal dog Bernie and her two cats, Callie Kitten and Smokey, were a source of endless comfort and companionship.

Barbara's journey through education began at Portsmouth High and culminated with a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University. Her career was as diverse as her interests; she worked as a receptionist and concierge at a hotel in Boston's North End, where her warmth and helpfulness were appreciated by all who crossed her path. Additionally, she found fulfillment as a massage therapist, a role in which her caring hands brought relief and relaxation to many.

A resident of Stoughton for eight years, Barbara embraced her community with open arms, engaging with neighbors and friends in various activities that reflected her zest for life. Her love for music was undeniable, with concerts being a favorite pastime—Pat Benatar, Billy Joel, and Imagine Dragon's powerful anthems held a special place in her heart. Barbara's playful spirit shone through in her love for bowling, always with the bumpers up, a nod to her fun-loving approach to the game.

Animals held a special place in Barbara's heart, and she found joy in visiting many zoos and marveling at the wonders of the animal kingdom with her friend, Holly Mather. Her affinity for nature extended to her passion for hiking, where not only did she find peace and solace but also the love of her life, Michael. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading history novels.

Barbara's life was a beautiful tapestry of moments filled with laughter, love, and the simple pleasures that make life worth living. Her enthusiasm for a spontaneous trip to the casino where she taught Michael pai gow, seeing Broadway shows in New York, or getting away to Newport with her dog, Bernie, were just a few examples of how she embraced every opportunity to make memories with those she cherished.

As we bid farewell to Barbara Dolan, we hold tight to the memories that she leaves behind—a legacy of love, a spirit of adventure, and a reminder to live each day with a heart full of gratitude. Her life was a beautiful reflection of the joy she found in every moment, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Barbara's light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness.
