Obituary

Bạch Hường Thị Nguyễn, a woman of faith and boundless love, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in Stoughton, MA. Born on November 18, 1951, in Đà Lạt, Việt Nam, Bạch Hường lived a life that was characterized by compassion, love, and an unyielding faith.

Bạch Hường was the wife of Hớn Nguyễn, with whom she raised three children: Teddi Nguyễn Lydon and her husband Francis Lydon of Stoughton MA, Hưng Nguyễn and his wife Elizabeth of Lebanon OH, and Martino Nguyễn of Randolph MA. As a mother, she was a beacon of strength and kindness. She instilled in her children the values of charity, respect, and education, shaping them into the individuals they are today.

Bạch Hường was a devoted grandmother to Joseph, Olivia, and Grace Nguyễn Lydon and Amelia and Lila Nguyễn. Her love for her grandchildren was immeasurable, and their happiness and successes were her greatest pride and joy. She was also a dear sister to Theresa Phạm of Dorchester and Brian Nguyễn of Australia. She is predeceased by her parents, Chắt and Hoa, younger brothers, Hùng, Dũng, and Phát. Her relationships with her siblings were filled with mutual respect and love.

She valued education, believing it was important enough to flee her home country to provide her children with the opportunity of an education. She, herself, attended night school at Northeastern University to attain her associate degree upon coming to the United States. She worked as an accountant for many years in the Insurance industry before retiring. Her colleagues remember her as a dedicated professional with an impeccable work ethic.

More important than any professional accomplishment, Bạch Hường was a woman of deep faith. She was an active member of St. Ambrose Church in Dorchester, where she was a participant of many prayer groups, the Cursillo Movement, and served as the Religious Education Coordinator for many years. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, providing her with strength and comfort during challenging times.  Even as she was undergoing chemotherapy for the past eleven years, she never missed a Sunday.

In her free time, Bạch Hường enjoyed simple yet fulfilling activities. She had a green thumb, and her garden was a testament to her patience and nurturing nature. Her name means white rose in Vietnamese and as such, this was her favorite flower. She also loved lilacs because of its sweet scent and soft purple hue, her favorite color. She also found solace in knitting, creating beautiful pieces for her family that will be cherished. Above all, Bạch Hường treasured spending time with her family and cooking Vietnamese meals for them. Their shared laughter, stories, and jokes were her greatest joy. Her sense of humor will be missed dearly.

Bạch Hường Thị Nguyễn was a woman of many virtues. Her courage in the face of adversity, her selfless love for her family, and her faith-filled life are an inspiration to all who knew her. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her loved ones.
