Arthur J. Mayo Sr., long-time resident of Sharon, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at the age of 85 in Stoughton, MA. Born on September 26, 1939, in Canton, MA, Arthur was the devoted son of Clifford and Ida Mayo.
Arthur graduated from Canton High School and soon after embarked on a career that would span many years as a skilled electrician with Local 103 Boston. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who knew him.
In his personal life, Arthur was the beloved husband of the late Carol A. Mayo, who was the light of his life. He was a loving father to Arthur J. Mayo Jr. and his wife Janet of Sharon, and a devoted grandfather to William and Valerie Mayo. Arthur is also survived by his brother Richard Mayo, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Robert, Edward, Clifford, and Maureen Ciannavei.
Arthur's dedication as a caregiver to his wife Carol, who bravely battled multiple sclerosis before her passing in 2004, was a testament to his unwavering love and compassion. He found great joy in watching his grandchildren grow, especially as they played sports and took part in school activities. In recent years, he cherished spending winters in Florida. Arthur also treasured the time spent playing pool while reconnecting with lifelong friends from his high school days.
His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him. Arthur will be greatly missed, and his memory will be kept alive by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home on Thursday, July 17th, from 4 -7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18th, at 10 a.m. at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home. Burial at Rock Ridge Cemetery.
