Arnold J. “Doug” Haight Obituary

With great sadness, we announce that Arnold J. “Doug” Haight passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 96.

Arnold was born on June 14, 1929, in Everett, Massachusetts, to Arnold and Christine (MacKenzie) Haight. He was the eldest of six brothers and grew up surrounded by family. He married the love of his life, Evelyn (MacPhail), in June 1950, with whom he built a life centered on devotion, hard work and love. They were married for 53 years until her death in 2003.

Arnold was a proud father to Georgia Patton of Canton and Paula Sanderson and her husband Roger, also of Canton.

He was a cherished grandfather to Kristena Flood and her husband John, Brett McCloud and her husband Kory, and Sarah Breare and her husband Brian, all of Canton.

He was a loving great-grandfather to John and Julie Flood, Evelyn and Mabel McCloud, and Isla, Rory, and Maeve Breare, each of whom brought him immense joy.

Arnold is survived by his brother, Paul D. Haight of Hanover, along with many sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by brothers Richard, George, Robert and David.

Arnold grew up in Dorchester and moved his family to Canton in 1967, where he lived until his passing. He treasured time spent with family and friends, especially in Lynche River, Cape Breton, Canada, and St. Augustine, Florida, places that held special meaning throughout his life.

A proud World War II Army veteran, Arnold entered military service at just 16 years old, exemplifying courage and patriotism from a young age.

Professionally, he was a reliable expert witness at Arnold Haight Construction Services. He was widely respected for his professionalism, honesty, and strong work ethic.

Arnold will be remembered as a man who was kind, loyal, and fair- someone whose integrity guided every part of his life. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.

He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at Dockray and Thomas Funeral Home on Friday, December 19th, from 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Dockray and Thomas Funeral home on Saturday, December 20th at 10 a.m.
