Vandor, Anne E. of Canton passed away February 17th. Anne Kingsford-Curram was born in the English county town of Guildford, the daughter of an auctioneer and specialist in antiquities. Anne was an active and vivacious young woman who participated in horse trials and public speaking competitions. She trained and gained employment as a medical secretary in London. There, at a party, Anne met Robert Vandor, who had escaped from Budapest after the 1956 uprising. They were married in 1963, and spent their honeymoon crossing the Atlantic Ocean on The Queen Mary, to start a new life in America. Several moves occurred over the years, but Anne & Robert finally made New England their permanent home. Anne was widely known as an excellent hostess and made many friends. The Vandors both loved to travel and seized every opportunity to do so. In later life Anne suffered health issues which eventually confined her to a wheelchair, but she fought to maintain her independence and bore her hardships with resolve and a smile. They moved to Orchard Cove after Robert's retirement and became active members of the community there. Robert's passing in 2018 was a great blow, but Anne carried on stoically. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Anne's life at Dockray and Thomas funeral home 455 Washington St. Canton on Monday 11th March at 11am. Anne's niece Sarah Marshall and nephew Christopher Kingsford-Curram are contactable via Orchard Cove
