Alma A. Cheverie

Alma A. Cheverie, age 93, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, at the Guardian center in Brockton. Born in Boston, MA on September 28, 1931, she was the beloved daughter of the late Herbert and Charlotte Cheverie and a devoted sister to Warren Cheverie and his wife Roberta of Waltham and the late Herbert Cheverie Jr. and Mary Lois Hughes.  Also survived by her longtime friend Olga Vasquez of Canton several adoring nieces and nephews.
 

She attended Boston Schools and spent the majority of her life in Canton, where she became a respected and familiar face within the community. Her professional life was equally commendable; she dedicated many years of diligent service to Boston Edison until her well-deserved retirement.

Her retirement was not one of idle rest; Alma poured her energy into volunteering. She was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Canton and devoted her time to the Canton Senior Center, where her presence was a beacon of warmth and compassion. Her generosity extended beyond these commitments as she supported the La Salette Shrine and several other local charities, embodying the true spirit of giving.

She was a devoted fan to all the Boston Sports teams. 

Alma's faith was a cornerstone of her existence. A longtime parishioner of St. Oscar Romero Church in Canton, she found strength and solace in her beliefs. Her commitment to her faith community was evident in her participation and the relationships she fostered there.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Cottage St. Sharon on Thursday morning August 7th at 10:00 am.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Canton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the La Salette Shrine in Attleboro, MA
